What we need
We are looking for a Technical Product Owner to sit at the intersection of business requirements, technical delivery, and project governance. Based in Belfast, this role works closely with Shaype's Product Delivery Manager, the Tech Lead and regional Business Analysts to gather, document and structure business requirements, translate them into clear specifications and delivery plans, and manage the project governance needed to get new products and features live.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is structured, analytical and comfortable driving multiple work streams to a deadline in a fast-growing company.
This role is Belfast based and offers flexible working arrangements - up to 3 days per week working from home.
Shaype Belfast is located at:
Scottish Provident Building
7 Donegall Square West
Belfast
BT1 6JH
About the role
The role owns the analytical and project management rigour behind delivery: requirements traceability, impact and risk assessment, project planning, RAID logs, and stakeholder reporting. It works alongside the Agile squad, ensuring the Tech Lead and delivery team have the business context, well-specified requirements and a realistic delivery plan they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Liaising with Shaype's Product Delivery Manager, regional Business Analysts, the Product team and clients to gather and validate business requirements (facilitated by the Product Delivery Manager / Customer Success team)
- Engaging with the Tech Lead on engineering feasibility, technical resourcing and roadmap planning
- Reporting project status, risks and dependencies to the Head of Product Delivery and Programme Manager
- Communicating requirements, priorities and delivery plans clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
Business Analysis & Requirements Documentation
- Producing clear, traceable requirements specifications, process flows and acceptance criteria for new products and features
- Converting business requirements into well-defined technical deliverables in partnership with the Tech Lead and Engineering team
- Understand technical nuance of proposed solutions to playback to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ensure team is balancing pragmatism and technical excellence in proposed solutions
Project & Delivery Planning
- Developing and maintaining project plans, milestones and dependency maps across business and technical work streams to maintain alignment to broader programmes
- Owning RAID logs (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies) and driving mitigation actions to closure
- Monitoring delivery progress against plan, flagging slippage early and re-planning as required
- Supporting resourcing and capacity planning conversations with the Tech Lead to ensure delivery remains on track
Risk, Issue & Change Management
- Proactively identifying, logging and escalating risks, issues and blockers relating to scope, business value, implementation and priority
- Managing change requests through impact assessment, approval and re-baselining of plans
- Ensuring the delivery team is not blocked and has a clear path to resolution on open issues
Solution Analysis & Business Case Support
- Focusing on user flows and business outcomes, ensuring requirements are grounded in the problem to be solved rather than a prescribed technical solution
- Reviewing technical solution designs (produced by the Tech Lead) against business and client requirements
Release & Implementation Management
- Producing release notes and supporting integration guides for client consumption
- Coordinating UAT, handover and implementation planning with the Programme Manager
- Facilitating meetings between business, client and technical stakeholders for handover, go-live and post-implementation review
What experience you will have
- 5+ years' experience as a Business Analyst, Project Manager, or in a similar hybrid role within a complex business environment
- Demonstrable experience gathering, documenting and structuring business requirements
- Experience running project governance: project plans, RAID logs, status reporting and stakeholder management, using structured or Agile frameworks as appropriate
- Experience working in a start-up or scale-up environment with a complex stakeholder landscape
- Strong ability to engage, influence and report to senior stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to translate between business and technical audiences
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on driving outcomes and operational rigour
- Solid understanding of technology and product development processes
- Experience working with teams based across several locations and time zones (London & Sydney)
- Ability to stay current with technology and software trends and present recommendations to create efficiencies
- Northern Ireland-based roles are expected to work from the Belfast city centre office 2 days per week
